The Eternal Labyrinth of Guitar Pick Selection

What criteria do you use to select a guitar pick?
Material, thickness, shape, and design.
I myself select custom picks with professional musicians on a daily basis.
I myself set various criteria when I work with professional musicians to select custom picks,
However, the criteria vary depending on the guitar, amp, shield, and the player's own playing style.
However, the reality is that there is no standard value because the conditions are completely different depending on the guitar, amp, shield, and the player's own playing style.

Launch of a project to propose academic guidelines for pick selection

We know that everyone, regardless of whether you are a professional or an amateur, is on a journey to choose the right pick for you.
I believe that everyone, both professionals and amateurs, are on a journey to choose the right pick for their needs.
We have launched a project to provide a clear basis for the "pick sound criteria" that will serve as a map in the labyrinth of pick selection.
We have launched a project to show the "standard of pick sound" with a clear basis.

The project is named after Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, where MASTER 8 JAPAN is headquartered, and is a collaboration of the members of the "Quartz Glass Pick" project, which has been under study since last year.

We are working with Kyushu University, Kyoto Sangyo University, and INVISI Co.

We aim to propose evidence to explain the characteristics of guitar picks that vary depending on various conditions such as material and size.
These criteria are not intended to lead to a correct answer,
but rather to propose a "common guidepost" when making selections,
We will use this standard as a neutral value,
We will continue our research to make your picks easier to understand.

Can you distinguish differences in pick materials, shapes, and materials?

As the first step of the verification, we will ask all users to participate.
The first part of the verification will be a subjective evaluation of the sound quality.
This verification will examine "how people feel and listen to the sound.
It is not to derive the correct answer, but rather to evaluate how you feel about the sound.
The subjective and physical quantity evaluation application, Sound One, is used to verify how you feel about the sound.
It is designed to be intuitive and easy to use by placing icons on the graph.
We look forward to your participation.
(Compatible with smartphones and PCs: you can participate without any troublesome registration process)
